Bivo One

At last, a bike bottle that won’t get smelly, moldy, or fall out while you’re riding.

We’re not saying that it takes an ex-NASA engineer to make a metal bike bottle that won’t rattle in a standard bike cage. It just happens that’s exactly who Bivo, an upstart bike brand out of Portland, Ore., hired to make its debut product.

The Bivo One, $39, is a stainless steel bike water bottle — a rarity in the industry. But while the Bivo isn’t the first take on the steel bike bottle concept, it’s the only one we’ve tested that doesn’t rattle or fall out of standard bike bottle cages.

And after 18 months of research and development, the Bivo stainless steel bike bottle is live.

Meet Bivo One: Stainless Steel Bike Bottle

My new favorite bike bottle is made from food-grade stainless steel with a silicone coating on the outside. It’s got better flow than your hydration pack or your plastic water bottle, guaranteed. There’s no squeezing or sucking to get the water out. And I was able to fully drain the bottle without opening the lid.

Gravity Flow Design

How, you ask? The Bivo bottle has a gravity-flow pour, which means that when you open the valve and tip the bottle, the water flows freely. And if you’re not aware, stainless steel tastes better than plastic. So if you forget your drink mix inside for an extended period, Bivo won’t keep that taste.

Because it’s stainless steel, Bivo won’t retain mold. Plus, the bottle, silicone mouthpiece lid, and internal straw can all go in the dishwasher. And it comes with a pipe-cleaner-style straw with every bottle and low-profile bottle cage screws. Best of all, when I chucked this bottle in my messenger bag with the mouthpiece closed, the bottle didn’t leak.

Bivo One is uninsulated, holds 21 fluid ounces, and comes in four colors. In case you’re wondering why Bivo calls it the “One,” word on the street is that more sizes and styles are coming soon. The Portland brand also commits a portion of sales to its foundation, which funds charities that align with the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Finally, Bivo offsets its carbon emissions by supporting clean-burning cooking stove projects in India.
