Patagonia’s well-loved synthetic jacket is now 40% off at REI. The Micro Puff is one of Patagonia’s most advanced and well-loved puffy jackets. And it’s on sale now.

With the security of synthetic insulation — a necessity in many damp climates — but the weight and feel of down, the Micro Puff ticks all the boxes. Whether you’re headed out on a backpacking trip, up a peak, or need something to wear on walks around town, the Micro Puff is one of our favorite synthetic jackets.

Differing from the competition, Patagonia fills the Micro Puff with its own PlumaFill insulation made from strands, not individual fibers. This helps trap heat and removes the need for traditional baffles to keep it in place. It also holds warmth well even while wet.

The unique stitching on the Micro Puff allows insulation to move around, keeping warmth flowing, while providing fewer points of weakness (no more escaped feathers!).

With the men’s version weighing in at 10 ounces (verified, men’s medium) and the women’s at an even lighter 8 ounces, this is an easy jacket to take anywhere. The ability to stuff into its own pocket and clip to a harness adds even more versatility, and so does its under-helmet hood.

The Micro Puff comes in both hooded and non-hooded options.

A lightweight Pertex Quantum GL shell is finished with a DWR treatment, which protects from moisture and even keeps some wind out. This makes it less breathable and can be prone to tearing. Add zippered hand pockets and inside drop pockets, and you have all the features you need.

The Patagonia Micro Puff is on sale now for 40% off.
